Despite my daughter's inability to get herself to and from graduations, she does have something rather special about her. Different. Unusual. A trait that I certainly don't own.
Elizabeth's cell phone broke and I took her to the Sprint store to replace it. Knowing she could handle the transacton herself, I waited outside and chatted with a friend via my own cell phone.
But too much time passed. She seemed to be in there forever. And finally, I was a bit tired of waiting outside and went in to see what was up.
Liz was in there talking to the salesgirl and just enjoying herself. They were chatting. Chatting up a storm about every cell phone in the place. She had even talked the girl down from the $75 replacement fee to a more reasonable $55.
I was intrigued.
Liz was shining as she and the salesgirl talked and talked about features on phones that they both did or didn't like. And finally the conversation got around to an opening for a hostess that the Sprint store had and would Elizabeth be interested in it? She was. And we left the store with Elizabeth promising to email her resume to the girl. Soon.
We made it all the way to the parking lot when I noticed that salesgirl running after Liz.
"Wait! Wait!" Thinking Liz had forgotten her new phone or something, we turned back to the girl. "My manager loved you! He could hear us talking and wanted to get your email address so he could send you the application and some paperwork! And can you start tomorrow?"
Unbelieveable. I don't think ANYONE has ever run after me to offer me a job. I doubt anyone ever will, either. In fact, I'm pretty sure there have been people who wanted to chase me out of their stores.
