For anyone to whom this may be of interest, I have now decided which branch of the military I would like to join. My choice is the United States Air Force… just like Daddy. And while Daddy’s having served many proud years as an airman does indeed influence my decision, this is not the only factor.
As I have concluded from my research, the Army defends America’s freedom by way of land, the Navy by way of water, and the Air Force by way of air and space. Land? I walk on it all the time, it’s old hat. Water? Still not that interesting. Pacific, Atlantic, same idea. But to fly? Now that is exhilaration. I want to fly.

I composed the blog entry about my decision to join the military during my flight from the Aloha State to the Lone Star State (my longest flight to date). I was seated beside a delightful 5-year-old girl traveling alone, and I very much enjoyed the tour of all of the toys she had brought along for the trip. Only moments after I had completed my draft, Natasha asked if I would look through her box of belongings for something fun to do.
The very first toy I removed from the box? A cuddly brown teddy bear clad in U.S. Army fatigues.
How’s that for “everywhere I turn?”
