My baby left for college today.
She's no stranger to college... she's tried it three times before. But this time it's different. It's not community college. It's big girl college. University of Arizona. A.U. She's the first in our family to go to a big college. And I've seen it... it's BIG!
So here's what we did last night. We packed her. Oh how we stuffed that little car of hers.
This is the trunk. With trunks inside of it. And, of course, a bible on top.
There's Jeannie's bed. Of course it had to go. Where else would a princess sleep?
Gettin' fuller ....
And as the morning approached, it became time to say goodbye. To our baby. To our little bitty girl who was off in the big world by herself now.
I dreaded this moment. In fact, I didn't sleep all night.
Rick's eyes appear closed in this next shot. He's fighing back the tears. The tears won.
I did get him to smile, though.
And, they're off. That's Kyndra, Liz' friend. She's accompanying Liz on the 15 hour drive to Arizona because I have to start back to work on Monday. Originally I was going to go but it was just too close to my starting work on Monday ... and I get ready S-L-O-W-L-Y. Especially when it's something I don't want to do. Better that Kyndra went and I made it to work on time. Or close to the time, anyway.
Sorry, girls ... but I need one more shot.
And the car backs out of the driveway ...
... and heads off into the night. Er, morning.
And Rick and I headed back to bed.
Midnight didn't. She laid by the door, awaiting Liz' return. She's gonna be there a loooong time ...
